Our Practice
Somerset Veterinary Group was established in 1936 by Dr. V.N. Gordon Darby and has undergone changes and improvements throughout the years in keeping with the many ongoing advancements in veterinary medicine. We focus on providing the highest quality medical and surgical services for your companion animals.
The veterinarians and staff at Somerset Veterinary Group are committed to providing quality, compassionate care throughout the life of your dog or cat. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care.
Our History
When Somerset Veterinary Group was first founded, Bridgewater was a farming community and veterinary medicine was focused more on maintaining the health of a farmer's herd than it was on preventing illness in companion animals. Additionally, the resources that a veterinarian could rely on to help care for a large or small animal were minimal at best and did not pay much attention to preventive medicine.
Times, however, have changed.
Throughout our history, we have consistently worked to keep Somerset Veterinary Group on the cutting edge of developments in veterinary medicine. We have gone from a few, if any, diagnostic tools to digital radiography, ultrasound, electrocardiograms, glaucoma testing, and a modern, in-house lab. Additionally, our understanding of preventive medicine, vaccines, wellness exams, pet nutrition, etc. has enabled us to provide a level of care that can keep our pets healthy for many years while also minimizing the lifetime cost of care.
Our periodic renovations and updates have also included creating state-of-the-art surgical and veterinary dentistry suites. Along with these physical improvements, we strive to keep our doctors' skills at the leading edge of veterinary medicine and hire staff with the training and experience to provide your pet with the best care possible.
When you visit us, you will be received by staff that is courteous and friendly within a facility capable of meeting your pet's health needs. We take great pride in the medicine we practice but are even prouder of the many friendships and relationships we have built with our clients.
Somerset Veterinary Group's staff is also one of the most highly experienced and well-trained to be found at any veterinary hospital. Our doctors, veterinary technicians, and receptionists must fulfill continuing education requirements and, on average, staff members have been with us for more than eight years.
Our Mission
We strive to fulfill the needs of both our human clients and companion animal patients by providing the best possible health care services through a responsive, caring, professional staff with an emphasis on superior individual client attention.
